After looking at a few sites with tech tools attached, I came across a wonderful program called Starfall. The program is a great way for a parent to feel safe leaving their child on. There are several programs that sound out letters and connect them to words. There are stories that can be read to the child, but the great thing about the website was that the child had to click on the letters to hear them. It was a really interactive program that allowed children to take part in their own learning. There were also interactive games for children to match letters to the rest of words with pictures attached. There were so many great things in this website that it would keep your child occupied for months. I loved looking through it and I think any child would love being part of this interactive program.

I like this program as well Kathryn. Shaw Elementary (where I can done some practicums) use this program during computer time with the Kindergartners. The students play Lexia (another reading program but it keeps track of the student's progress) first then have an option to play Starfall; most of the children chose to play Starfall. Not only does this program helps with reading development but also teaches concepts and ideas like shapes, colors, how to plant a flower, Earth Day, and so on. Great tech tool :)
ReplyDeleteI've also seen this program used in the schools and children really like it. It would be a great way to incorporate technology into language and other learning areas.
ReplyDeleteStarfall is a cute educational site. Young children want to do what adults do, such as being on the computer. This site allows them to easily play on the computer in an educational way. The children will enjoy the option to repeat the letters or move on to a new one. The picutures and audio makes it fun for them while learning.
ReplyDeleteThis seems like a great site. I think that it is important to have safe sites for young children to visit online. They need to be able to be comfortable with a computer, and these sites are great places to get those needed skills. Also if they can make learning fun then that is even better.
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of this site before last week. The nursery rhymes were my favorite part of this website. This site would be really helpful for young students to go to and learn songs, rhymes, and how to read.
